When the summer season comes around, more of your skin will see the sun that at any time of year. While bronzed skin may look good on social media, too much of it is not good for your skin’s health. This post will give you several skincare tips that you can use to keep the biggest organ of your body safe and healthy for another year.

NEVER Forget the Sunscreen

Applying sunscreen every day is the best way to protect your skin. Always apply it 20 minutes before you go outdoors. This allows your product to absorb evenly into your skin. You will also need to reapply every few hours. When shopping for sunscreen, find one that offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays. (UVA rays cause sunspots and wrinkling. UVB rays cause red spots and sunburns). Nowadays, it is no longer enough to buy a product with just a high SPF number.

Make Sure Your Skin is Hydrated

It is always important to keep your skin hydrated. Hydration is so vital that almost anyone’s skincare regimen could use an upgrade. Once or twice a week, use intensive masks to double down on the moisturizing of your face. Toners work by evening out the pores of your skin. Layer boosters under a moisturizer for an even better look. If you’re on the go, use a toner spritz at the gym, the office, on date night, or while traveling.

It’s also important to make sure your entire body is hydrated. Drink water all throughout your day. To prevent dehydration and heat stroke, try bringing both a water bottle and a container of fresh fruit while you’re out and about in those hot summer months.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

You will need a moisturizer with SPF for the summer and the other three seasons. For the summer, consider using a moisturizer that has a higher SPF as this can prevent some signs of aging. The sun, humidity, heat, and even air conditioning can do extensive damage to the skin. Use a moisturizer before you go outdoors. Use a rich lotion after you come back indoors, after a bath or shower, and before you go to bed to keep your skin smooth and hydrated.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating removes the debris of dead skin to improve the hydration from toners and moisturizers. Exfoliate in the morning before you put on moisturizer, toner, SPF and/or makeup.
