Once numbed, the threads are inserted just below the skin surface, the tissues repositioned and anchored to create a very natural-looking lift.

The PDO threads are attached to a long cannula, which is carefully pushed through the tissues beneath the facial skin. Once the thread has reached its designated position, the cannula is removed. The thread remained suspended under the tissues, acting as an upward anchor. This lifting process will be repeated with as many threads as are needed for your customized procedure.

In most cases, the entire procedure takes less than an hour to complete.

What is the recovery time?

The recovery time is brief, with any bruising or swelling typically occurring in the first three days. This side effect fades rapidly, and most clients need less than a week to return to work or social engagements. You may experience some sensitivity where the threads were inserted, which fades in about three to five days. You should avoid any strenuous exercise or other physical activities for a week, avoid direct exposure to the sun, and avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. You have aftercare instructions that will help speed healing.

Types of PDO threads

Several types of PDO threads may be used in a custom PDO thread lift, each of which has a specialized purpose. Each type of PDO thread comes in various forms, thicknesses, and lengths and will be selected to treat the individual facial area and condition.

Three types of thread lifts:

Mono threads: Composed of a single PDO filament, mono threads are commonly used in a thread lift.
Barbed threads: These PDO threads have barbs to anchor the threads into the skin, mechanically suspending sagging tissues.
Twist threads: These are PDO threads that are twisted in a “screwlike” pattern and typically placed to increase skin volume in specific facial areas.

How long will the results of a PDO thread lift last?

The lifting, skin-regenerating effect of a PDO thread lift will last from twelve to eighteen months, and often longer. As the body naturally absorbs the threads, collagen production is increased, and the skin has a more supple, resilient quality.
