Spending time outside is fun and relaxing, with fresh air and exercise that just feels good. Unfortunately, time in the sun comes with UV damage in the form of freckles, brown and red spots, and even wrinkles. Thankfully, you don’t have to accept one to enjoy the other. Pure Beauty Skin Care & Medical Spa can thoroughly address any sun damage you experience, so you can get back out there and live life to the fullest.

How Does LimeLight IPL Work?

LimeLight IPL treatments from Cutera® utilize an adjustable wavelength of energy to specifically target superficial pigments in the epidermis. With strong melanin absorption, light pulses heat the abnormal red and brown spots caused by the sun to break them into small particles the body can absorb and eliminate through our natural filtering systems. The power of the LimeLight pulses is closed-loop controlled to ensure every pulse is consistent and regulated for maximum safety and maximum results.

LimeLight facials can also help with blood vessels damaged by the sun. Vascular lesions may appear as a tiny web of bright red veins just at the surface of the skin, and these can be as unsightly as brown or red spots that are the earmark of sun damage. These imperfections are more common on the neck and décolletage, and are equally responsive to LimeLight treatments, which can be customized for the type of damage being reversed for each patient.

Am I a Good Candidate for LimeLight IPL?

If you have noticeable brown or red spots, vascular lesions, or wrinkled skin caused by prolonged sun exposure, you may be an ideal patient for LimeLight IPL treatments. Your consultation will provide more information on the most effective treatment plan for you.

What Should I Expect From LimeLight IPL Treatments?

The treatment itself, averaging less than an hour, brings sensations of mild stinging or pinching, for which a cooling gel may be used to help cool and soothe the skin. Heavier pain medication is not typically required. Don’t be shocked if, at first, your brown and red spots deepen and appear darker. This is the effect the laser energy has on these areas of your skin. But these spots will begin to flake off and the redness will decrease, leaving behind a more even skin tone and smoother texture. Patients undergoing LimeLight IPL treatments require an average of 1-3 sessions to see optimal results, though severe sun damage may require more. While existing sun damage is reversed with these treatments, the procedure does not prevent new sun damage. Thankfully, future treatments can focus on any new damage that occurs.

When Can I See Results?

Immediately following treatment, patients may experience mild swelling and redness, which typically resolves within a few hours or a day. The next week will bring the flaking of brown spots and redness or damaged blood vessels will diffuse for an improved complexion by week 3. Consistent and faithful use of sunscreen will go a long way toward preventing new sun damage.
