JUVEDERM® is an outpatient injection administered by a specialist. The injection itself usually takes about 15 minutes. JUVEDERM® includes a type of anesthetic in its formula in order to provide maximum comfort.
Before your injection, your health care specialist may want to ask you about allergies and medical history. JUVEDERM® is available in two different formulations, so your specialist will choose the one that most fits your needs. You will receive specific instructions about how you can prepare for your injection, which might include avoiding aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications.
Side effects are usually mild and can include tenderness, pain, redness, and firmness at the injection site. These effects typically clear up in less than a week, but you can use an ice pack on the area to help soothe it in the meantime. You should avoid alcohol, exercise, and a lot of sun exposure for about a day afterward.
